America's Next Top Model

What IS America's Next Top Model
America's Next Top Model is a little bit drama, and a whole lot of reality. It's a show that combines the everyday world of women ages 18-27 who share a house or a loft, and a dream, with the glamour of a model's life. The show takes a handful of outstanding women and introduces them to the challenges they may face if they make it as supermodels. It's a fantastic boot camp, of sorts. After each challenge (a cultural event combined with a photo shoot, for example), someone goes home. The last girl standing-- with her shoulders back and head high, of course--wins a modeling contract.
The Judges
Tyra Banks is a judge, of course, since America's Next Top Model was her idea. She created the show and she still produces it as well. She also employs the assistance and expertise of other big names in the industry when it comes to choosing which girls will make it through to the next round. Other judges include: Janice Dickinson (who now has her own modeling reality show and was one of the world's first supermodels), Beau Quillian (fashion editor for Marie Claire) and Kimora Lee Simmons (who has her own clothing and accessories line called Baby Phat).
When to Watch
There's a 2-hour premier of America's Next Top Model Wednesday, September 20 at 8:00 (7:00 Central), according to the website. It's usual time is also Wednesday at 8:00. Find it on UPN.
How to Enter the Contest
If you think you've got the look and the attitude to compete for the title of America's Next Top Model, don't waste any more time! Go here and click for more info in the top right corner. There, you'll have the option of watching a video or finding the casting call locations for the next season. If you go to the casting call link, you'll find an entry form, more information about where the casting calls will be held and eligibility requirements.
In those eligibility requirements, you'll find that you have to pay your own way in the regional semi-finals. If you're selected at that point, you'll be flown to Los Angeles on the show's dime for a week to compete further. Just about everything from this point on will be paid for by the show, so you don't have to worry about not being able to afford the travel. You'll even get a daily allowance to buy food and trinkets.
For about two months, you'll be living with quite a few other females. You won't have much--if any--privacy, considering your roommates and the cameras that roll 24/7.
Still want to do it? Well, let's see if you fit the mold. Taken from the eligibility requirements on the website:
- You must be between 18 and 27 at the time you apply.
- You have to be at least 5'7".
- You must be a citizen of the United States
- You can't have had any experience modeling at a national level.
- You must be in excellent physical and mental health.
For the rest of the requirements, visit the Eligibility Requirements page.

-- Contributed by: stephanieI just really wish that they would allow 17 year olds. I understand that the age requirement is just so they don't have to deal with permission from parents and the CW would hate to go through the legal trouble but they should allow 17 year olds that are gonna turn 18 ether after the auditions or during shooting, it's only fair.
