Bra Size Chart
From LoveToKnow Lingerie
A bra size chart will help you properly calculate your proper bra size.
Using a Bra Size Chart
In order to get the proper size bra, you will need to determine your band size and your cup size. The band size is determined by measuring under your arms across the top of your chest. This measurement should be an even number, and this is your band size. If it is an odd number, add 1 inch to determine your band size.
A bra size chart can be used to determine your correct cup size. Your cup size is important not only for ultimate comfort and support but also to create the most flattering foundation under your clothing. By consulting a bra size chart, you can determine the size cup you will need. Cup size is calculated by measuring the fullest part of your breast and subtracting the band size measurement from this measurement. Every inch represents a cup size. Use the chart below to figure out your cup size.
| Band Minus Bust Measurement | Cup Size |
| Less than 1" | AA |
| 1" | A |
| 2" | B |
| 3" | C |
| 4" | D |
| 5" | DD or E |
| 6" | DDD or F |
| 7" | G |
Once you get both your band and cup measurements, you have the information needed to figure out what size bra size you should wear. If your band is a 36 and your cup is a C then you will be a 36 C.
Bra Size Conversion Charts
Besides the cup size chart, there are other charts such as the bra size conversion chart that can be used to determine your proper bra size. Band size is important in getting the right fit for your bra. The conversion chart can be used to convert sizes from the United States to the ones in the United Kingdom and France. Often times, bras can be sized differently from country to country depending on the designer. This is important if you plan on purchasing your bras online. The following chart shows how to convert band size:
| USA | UK | International | France |
| 32 | 32 | 70 | 85 |
| 34 | 34 | 75 | 90 |
| 36 | 36 | 80A | 95A |
| 38 | 38 | 85 | 100 |
| 40 | 40 | 90 | 105 |
Cup size remains the same until you get into larger sizes.
- US cup size DDD is an E in the UK and an F in Europe.
- US cup size G is an F in the UK and an G in Europe.
- US cup size H is an FF in the UK and an H in Europe.

Various Factors to Consider
Other factors to consider along with your cup size are:
- Be sure that the cups are large enough to prevent your breasts from spilling out from the top or under your arms.
- Cups are too large if they wrinkle or appear larger than your breasts.
- Often one breast may be larger then the other, use the measurement for the larger breast.
