About Kelly Brook
Kelly Brook was born Kelly Parsons in Kent, Rochester, England. Although her family was not wealthy, as her mother was a cook and her father a scaffolder, Kelly was able to attend the Italia Conte school where she studied dance, singing and acting. It wasn't until Kelly's mother Sandra entered her into a beauty pageant, which she won, that Kelly became interested in the world of modeling.
After a few small local modeling jobs, Kelly got noticed by the modeling industry at the age of 16. Soon after, she was on the cover of Cosmo, GQ and FHM, among others. Over the years, Kelly continued modeling in various television and print ads, eventually landing a job as a game show hostess. This lead to other hosting gigs on MTV as well as the Oasis Live at Wembley concert. Not wanting to give up her modeling career, in 2001 Kelly Brook released her first calendar.
The Launch of Kelly Brook Lingerie
In 2006, Brook designed an exclusive swimwear collection for the UK based store New Look. The collection of reasonably priced 50's inspired swimwear was a huge success for both Kelly and New Look. Following the success of her swimwear line, Kelly Brook entered the world of lingerie and her collection was launched at the end of 2007.
The Kelly Brook Lingerie Collection
The Kelly Brook lingerie collection manages to be both sweet and sexy at the same time. She states that her collection was inspired by "1950's glamour" much like her swimsuit collection. The prices are affordable and the range of sizes for bras (up to an E cup size) and panties is pretty wide. The collection includes:
- Bras
- Panties
- Thongs
- Garter Belts (called Suspender Belts in the UK)
- Boy shorts
- Bustiers
- Kimono's
- Fishnet stockings
The colors of the collection range include bright red, dusty pink and soft hues of greens and blues. There are also pieces in the standard lingerie color of black. Brook also uses wonderful materials in her collection that include silk, satin and ribbon.
Customer Reviews of the Colleciton
At first, it seemed that people were a little skeptical of this model-turned-designer's ability to create pretty and sophisticated lingerie. Critics were silenced though when her collection was revealed in Paris in front of the Eiffel Tower. Deputy Fashion Editor of the The Independent stated that Kelly's swimwear and lingerie collections for New Look were "quite good."
Where to Find the Kelly Brook Collection
Unfortunately, if you don't live near one of the hundreds of New Look stores in the UK or France, you are going to have a difficult time purchasing Kelly Brook lingerie. The store does have a website, but currently, the link to Kelly's collection is not working. Since the collection was just recently launched, they may still be working on getting the lingerie link on the website working, so be sure to check back often.
A Final Note about Shopping for Kelly Brook Lingerie
When Kelly Brook's lingerie link is up and running at the New Look website, remember that the prices given are in British Pounds. Since the U.S. Dollar is worth less than the British Pound, comparatively, you will have to add around one U.S. dollar to every British Pound spent. Even with the currency conversion, the prices remain reasonable. The other thing that you really have to keep an eye on is the shipping costs, which will be high. Overall though, the average price of a bra in the Kelly Brook collection is around ₤20, so it would be around $40, which is completely competitive with items from popular lingerie stores such as Victoria's Secret.
