The Kymaro Bodyshaper (more commonly spelled as “Body Shaper”) is touted as a great step forward in shapewear, smoothing bulges and reducing inches while also being comfortable to wear. Many women warn, however, that the garment is, at the very least, a huge disappointment.

The majority of users claim that the Kymaro Body Shaper is a waste of money.

On the face of it, the Body Shaper sounds like a miracle garment. Where once women had to rely on uncomfortable corsets or girdles to smooth and slim them so that they could wear a tight-fitting outfit, this matched set (top and bottom) accomplishes everything those items are meant to do while being comfortable, practical and even improving your health by aligning your spine and thus (presumably) increasing your energy. They come in nude and black, can be washed in warm soapy water and seem to do a beautiful job of improving your overall look.

While some users are very pleased, noting that it stays firm all day and does indeed smooth you, many others find the Body Shaper to be a poor purchase. So many, in fact, that more sites listing complaints come up on an initial search for the product than those that sell it. The complaints are not only about the poor quality of the Body Shaper itself, but the deception in the advertising regarding the cost and the lack of decent customer service.

Regarding the Body Shaper, many women complain first that the sizing chart offered to help you select your shaper is so vague as to be worthless. A woman who bought a larger size than her dress size found she still couldn’t even put the shaper on properly. This is a very common complaint, that even when an exchange is made for a larger size, it is still next to impossible to put on. Once on, women have found it to be not only uncomfortable, but also unsightly, as the waist can roll from the bottom, creating a whole new bulge. Some women have found that the only way to prevent this is to pull their underwear up over the bottom of the shaper to keep it in place, which presumably would not work if you like to wear low-rise panties.

The infomerical for the Kymaro Body Shaper offered the bottoms for free with an order, claiming a large savings. However, you are charged $9.95 for shipping twice, so you spend about $20 more than you expect. It also seems that they give out your email address, so you might receive a lot of spam.

Customers who try to return the product do not receive a full refund. Many who call to complain only get a recording and can get no assistance. Those who do get a person on the line have found the “assistants” to be unhelpful and even downright rude.

Those who still want to try the Kymaro Body Shaper, because some users (who, it must be noted, might be company employees) do claim good results, might do better to purchase on eBay and thus save a lot of money and potential aggravation. Disappointed users say that Spanx products can have a similar effect and are a better and more comfortable product overall. Still others point out that a lightweight modern girdle, combined with a well-fitting supportive bra, is all most women need to look and feel better in any outfit. It should be remembered, too, that the media creates unrealistic ideals for the female body and that most women over the age of twelve at least have a rounded belly. A healthy diet, exercise, flattering wardrobe and positive attitude will do more for you than any purported “miracle” garment..
