Ladies Flannel Pajamas
From LoveToKnow Lingerie
Ladies flannel pajamas aren't known for their sex appeal, that's for sure. Sometimes a girl just needs to cuddle up in something warm and toasty for a night at home.
Ladies Flannel Pajamas: Why They're Necessary
It's snowing. It's cold. You have a movie on Lifetime playing and you're downing a second cup of hot chocolate. Do you really imagine yourself in a lace teddy, curled up on the sofa with that mug in hand? Nah, didn't think so. Look a little closer at your fantasy winter day at home: What are you wearing? Chances are, you have on flannel pajamas.
Those flannel jammies you have on don't have to be oversized or even plaid. They don't have to be made up of crimson, forest green or navy blue. They can be cute, and maybe, just maybe, even a little bit sexy to your significant other. If they fit well, you may even get a boost of confidence from their unassuming lounge style.
Get Rid of the Bad Rep
Flannel pajamas seem to be the number one thing not to wear. They're the stretchy suspenders of the bedroom world. Well, it's time to prove society wrong. Flannel pajamas can be cute. Once you find the pair that fits you and your personality best, you may even be tempted to wear them to the grocery store (but please don't).
To address how to defeat the horrible reputation that ladies flannel pajamas have, let's first take a look at what makes them so "hideous" anyway:
- The pattern: Medium plaid. Ick. That's best left to the school uniform skirts and maybe kilts that are worn while playing the bagpipes.
- The colors: Generally darker and drearier than a day in January. Colors usually include deep red, black, green, and navy blue. Nobody said hot pink's necessary, but what about soft pastels?
- The fit: Too long, too baggy, cut for men, and otherwise shapeless on a woman's curves. Wearing the traditional style of flannel pajamas hides your body in a lump of heavy fabric.
- The wear: Over time, you may consider your favorite flannels "worn in" or "cozy." That's fine, but sometimes these pajamas are so comfortable, a girl can wear them out. Wash after wash can make them look drab. And if they're really traditional, the color didn't look that great or vibrant to begin with.
Flannel pajamas are supposed to be the epitome of ugly. Let's prove that not to be the case.
Favorite Flannels
If you're interested in making your way into flannel territory but you still wish to look at least a little polished as far as pajamas go, here are a few pieces to try out: The Steward Plaid Pajamas from PajamaGram.com show you how you can still wear plaid flannel without looking unkempt. However, unless you live alone and you're in the middle of a blizzard, you should probably stay away from the Stewart Plaid Flannel Nightshirt if you're trying to prove that flannel pajamas can be almost sexy.
These Striped Flannel Pajamas are quite elegant! You can choose from blue, pink, lilac and aqua, and sizes range from small to 2X.
A little more on the cutesy side is the Nick & Nora ® Flannel Pajama Set – Pandas. Heavyweight and tagless, these are perfect for slipping into at the end of a long day when you just want to cuddle or curl up with a book.
Another warm but old-fashioned flannel choice is the Lanz 100 percent cotton flannel nightgown in an antique floral print. It comes in blue or rose and has long sleeves and a high collar.
If you like birds, another option from Vermont Country Store is the Lanz Sweet Cardinal Print Cotton Flannel Pajamas, available for $49.95 to $54.95.
As you can see from the examples above, ladies flannel pajamas may not be the sexiest pajamas on the planet, but they don't have to keep up the bad reputation they have thus far.
