History of the Leather Bra Harness
Like much of the gear used for bondage, the leather harness bra saw its origins several hundred years ago. Chest harnesses are seen worn by soldiers in the Byzantine era. The harnesses were called Varangian Bras and consisted of a breast strap with two shoulder straps. It’s assumed that the bra was used to secure breast plate armor, although military historians agree that more research is needed to be sure.
Interestingly, women wore something similar in their civilian dress – what looks like a leather harness bra was used to secure a baby to a woman’s back so she could carry on her work.
