Make Your Own Breast Forms
From LoveToKnow Lingerie
There are a few different methods you can use to make your own breast forms.
Breast Form Uses
Traditionally, people use breast forms to enhance their natural bust line. Medically, they're often used for mastectomy patients whom are awaiting reconstructive surgery. Some breast forms are natural looking and include the nipple and areola, while others are designed without them.
No matter how realistic the forms are, they are still pretty standard and most people who wear them don't have "standard" sized breasts (or really anything for that matter). If you're looking for something with more of a custom fit, try to make your own breast forms.
The Pros and Cons of Making Breast Forms
The most significant "pro" of making your own breast forms is, of course, the low cost. The materials are inexpensive and, for the most part, pretty durable. That being said, there aren't a whole lot of materials that will retain the look and feel of natural breasts as well as the professionally manufactured breast forms, and you may find yourself making new breast forms often.
There are also a few issues with breast forms made using water or gel, the biggest being if the form is accidentally punctured. Another negative is that the material used to hold the breast form together, such as a balloon, is generally pretty delicate. Of course, these are placed inside of a bra, so they're offered a bit of protection.
For most though, the major drawback to homemade breast forms is that they can't attach them to their bodies like they can professionally manufactured breast forms.
How to Make Your Own Breast Forms
There are a few different approaches you can take to making your own breast forms. Here are a couple of them:
Gel Filled Breast Forms
In order to make these types of breast forms you need:
- Plaster of Paris – This is used to make the shape of the breasts.
- Liquid latex – Can sometimes be found at your local home improvement store, but you might have better luck at a store like Spencer's Gifts or other "adult" stores.
- Rubber cement
- Slicone sealant
- Sandpaper – This is to sand the plaster breast forms smooth before you pour in the liquid latex.
- Get the detailed instructions for making gel filled breast forms at Geekbabe.com. You can also find similar, but much easier instructions for making gel filled breast forms at Tranny Radio.
- When using these materials, always do so in a well lit, well ventilated room. The liquid latex isn't a problem, but the rubber cement and silicone sealant can give off noxious fumes. Plus, you don't want any of this stuff to fall on your nice kitchen counters or floors.
Breast Forms Using Seeds or Grains
Many people have reported good results making breast forms using small birdseed, rice or some other hard, small grain. For these you'll need:
- Birdseed or rice.
- Flesh colored nylons.
- Be sure to wear a slightly padded bra to make sure the end result looks smooth and seamless.
Breast Forms Using Sand
Other do-it-yourself breast form makers claim that sand is the perfect weight and one of the easiest types of breast forms to make. Most fill heavy-duty sandwich bags or high quality balloons with the sand until they are the desired size.

Conclusion

Since the materials for making these forms are relatively inexpensive, it's okay to experiment a bit before you find the perfect breast forms for your body.
