Peek a boo Bustier

A peek-a-boo bustier can give your boring outfit an instant, sexy boost or fulfill your lover's fantasy. This is a lingerie item best left to very risqué dates or the bedroom, though. They don't offer any coverage where you need it most (and that could lead to some very embarrassing moments!), though some do offer support for a little bit of a lift.

If you're not familiar with the concept of peek-a-boo lingerie, the first image that may come to your mind is the frilly or sexy top of a bustier poking out of your button-up shirt or your jacket. That would be a look you could wear out for drinks on the weekends, to a club, or wherever the night may take you.

A sexy sneak preview from the top of your shirt may happen as well, but a peek-a-boo bustier is actually a regular bustier without cups. What that means is, your midsection is mostly covered, but your breasts are completely exposed. There could be a bit of underwire below the breasts for support or a few strips of fabric or ribbon that cross the breasts as part of the style. However, if you wear one, you can't count on there being anything between your breasts and your shirt. In most situations, that isn't an acceptable look.

In some cases, you may find tamer peek-a-boo bustiers with cutouts that highlight the cleavage without revealing the whole breast. These are great for timid girls who want to do something a little unexpected with their lingerie wardrobe without going overboard.

You'll want to leave the peek-a-boo lingerie pieces at home or at least very well-disguised when you're out (skip them completely for work to avoid any mishaps!).

If you wear your bustier behind closed doors and you live alone or only with your significant other, you could put it on beneath your regular clothes and see how long it takes him or her to notice. Just because peek-a-boo styles are considered "best for the bedroom," that doesn't mean you can't layer your clothes over the top and go about your day inside your house (just throw on a hoodie or a thick sweater if the UPS guy rings the doorbell). Wearing it as if you're wearing a regular bra or bustier under your daytime clothing could be thrilling.

An alternative to that is to save your peek-a-boo bustier for the bedroom completely and dress it up with a pair of thigh highs, a garter belt, and a pair of matching panties (your choice of style). Your lover will be unsuspecting when you go into the bathroom to "wash your face, brush your teeth, etc" before bed…and then you'll waltz out in one of the more shocking lingerie items/sets there is.

When you buy this type of bustier, you'll have to go to some of the racier lingerie shops you know of. You probably won’t have much luck if you start your search in a simple department store; you may find bustiers, but they probably will have all of their material intact, ready to be worn under just about anything.

• Body Lingerie Body Lingerie offers a sheer peek-a-boo set with material that encircles the breasts and then attaches behind the neck. A G-string is included.
• Angel Bodywear has the same peek-a-boo set that Body Lingerie offers. It has underwire cups, attached garters, and the aforementioned G-string. The bustier and G-string only come in black.

Whether your bustier is as racy as they can get or the "shy girl" version of peek-a-boo with only a cutout that features cleavage, it's best to only wear it when you're safe at your home or your significant others' house in order to spare yourself from embarrassing moments. Enjoy this foray into some of the more risqué lingerie out there.
