When to Wear Your Red Nylons

Red nylons may make you think of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s when you were a child and you wore bright red stockings under your girly, frilly dresses. If that's the case, they're sure to bring back fond memories, but don't think red nylons are reserved for yesteryear. You can wear them now; give them a grown-up twist.

While every workplace may not be conducive to donning brightly colored nylons no matter how long the skirt above, if your dress code is more laidback, you can wear them. Try them with a pencil skirt in a deep color. If you have a demure plaid skirt with shades of red in it, try that on too (thought be careful of clashing shades or brightness overload!).

Shopping or out having fun with girlfriends is a great time to wear red nylons, too, though it will look trendy and probably be most popular among the under-25 set. Wear red stockings/leggings with blue jean skirts, a fairly plain top, and funky accessories. If you're going the semi-sheer red leggings route (though not technically nylons, they're worn that way), slide on a pair of black flats and you're on your way. Even better, you'll be incredibly comfortable for your day out.

How to Pull Them Off

So, you've pulled them on but you're not sure how to pull them off. In general, you'll make your own rules based on your personality. If you're a bit on the outlandish side when it comes to your fashion sense, go ahead and wear the bright red ones with a mini.

If you're a little more on the conservative side but you want to play with red nylons anyway, go for a knee-length plaid or black skirt. They'll still be "in your face" but there won't be so much leg showing. Since red's so bright, you'll probably feel about as comfortable showing as much of your nylons as you would bare leg.

Of course, if you're not comfortable wearing them out, you can always wear them in the bedroom. Nope, not kidding! They'll go very well with a naughty schoolgirl costume. If you and your lover are into dressing up before undressing, get yourself some red nylons and pair them with a plaid, pleated skirt and white button-up shirt. Put your hair in pigtails (if you can) and work on your innocent face. "Sexy—me?" Behind closed doors, red stockings also make great accent pieces to holiday lingerie, whether it's Valentine's Day or Christmas.

Be Bold: Buy Some

You can find red nylons anywhere. Check your local Wal-Mart or Target lingerie section. If that doesn't work, you could opt for shopping at a department store, though you may pay a bit more. And if you're a big fan of online shopping, you can always look at these sites:
