Sheer Retro Panties Styles

No one really needs a reminder that what was considered risqué back in the ultra conservative 1940's and 1950's is laughable compared to what is currently considered risqué. Now, most would consider racy panties to be (depending on how conservative the person is) anything from thongs to crotchless styles. Of course, such things didn't exist decades ago and sheer retro panties are racy because they're sheer but they were still designed to sit high on the waist and low on the legs. Think of "boy short" bathing suits and panties where the waist comes all the way up to the belly button.

Here are a few other, more fancy designs for sheer panties from decades ago:

  • Tap pants design – These sheer panties are designed like tap pants, where they look a little more like shorts than underwear. They are generally high-waisted with a lace-trimmed leg and fit more loosely around the leg than other retro panties. Now, if you're looking for actual tap pants, you'll find that unlike the current style, the vintage style tap pants go down to just below the knee.
  • Lacy bottoms – These cute and flirty panties are also high-waisted and cut low on the thigh, but they have rows of ruffles on the bottom from the back to the front.
  • Bloomers – Bloomer style sheer panties are fitted on the waist and leg, but loose around the body. Usually, bloomer style retro panties are lined with lace ruffles at the leg.

Caring for Retro Panties

The fact that these panties are sheer means they are very delicate. That makes throwing them in the washer, even on the gentle cycle, a huge no-no. Putting these panties in the washer and dryer will lead to runs or tears in the panty and the lace. Instead, always hand wash these delicate intimates and hang them to dry. This is especially important if you are purchasing true retro panties and not panties made in the retro style.

Also, be sure to use only the most delicate of laundry detergents. The chemicals in other soaps tend to break down the integrity of the materials over time. Not only do you need to wash them with soap especially made for delicates like Woolite or a baby soap like Dreft, don't use too much.

Retro is Sexy

When you hear about how retro panties are high-waisted and cut low on the leg, you may think that they sound like "granny panties" but they aren't! These panties, especially the sheer variety, are sexy, fun, flirty and oh-so-feminine.
