Underwire Crop Camisole
From LoveToKnow Lingerie
From giving support to keeping you cooler than you'd otherwise be, an underwire crop camisole is a very useful piece of lingerie.
Uses for an Underwire Crop Camisole
Sometimes you need a little something extra to add a pop of color under a shirt, but it's too hot to wear a bra and another layer of clothing. The underwire crop camisole can balance that out by acting in the place of a bra and a second top. You can use it to keep from showing too much bare skin under an otherwise too-low cut top. Put the cami under the shirt with the deep v-neck and voila! You're able to wear that nightwear as daywear—without an extra layer.
Sometimes bras give us the illusion of "back fat" because of the width of the strap or the fit of the bra (which could be the result of wearing the wrong size). With a cropped cami, more skin will be covered—almost like you're wearing a sports bra—and there will be less of an opportunity for pesky rolls to pop up around the band.
Another way to use these tops to keep cool when it's summertime and you're feeling lazy is to keep them around as loungewear. Curl up on your back porch or on your sofa in a cropped cami with underwire and you'll have the comfort of a camisole, the support of an underwire bra and the breeziness that comes with wearing a cropped top. It's a lingerie masterpiece that does it all. Pair it with a pair of shorts or lounge pants and you're all set for a glass of lemonade, some ice cream and getting lost in a movie or book.
Why Underwire?
With underwire, you get extra support and shaping. When your camisole has underwire included inside, you get a versatile piece that goes anywhere without requiring an extra bra. It contributes to the two-in-one factor of the underwire camis by making them that much more efficient.
If you're small-chested or just lucky enough to have firm breasts that don't need a lot of extra support, you may be able to get by without the underwire in your cropped camisole. Try one without it and see how it feels and looks. You could even try finding one with a shelf bra or sewn-in soft cups if you need a little bit of support but not the full underwire. Lots of ladies claim that underwire is uncomfortable. If you've gone through the efforts to get the right fit and still don’t like the feel of underwire, skip that part.
Make Sure It Fits
There's nothing worse than ill-fitting underwire. If you get the chance to try it on before you leave the store, save yourself the trouble of a potential return trip by taking a few minutes to try on the garment.
Camisole Comfort
Camisoles themselves are some of the most comfortable undergarments you can put on. That's why they layer so well under other pieces and are often used in loungewear and pajama sets.
They are, overall, easier to stretch out and move around in. They're generally made of cotton or microfiber blends and move with you instead of holding your upper half in a locked position like other support garments (corsets, for example) do.
