Vintage Lingerie Pictures
From LoveToKnow Lingerie
Quality never goes out of style -- especially when it comes to vintage lingerie. Remodeled versions of classic undergarments are being designed and sold not because of their modest coverage, but for the growing appeal among men and women who want their underwear to be comfortable and flattering -- yet sexy.
History of Lingerie
If you look at the history of lingerie, you will see how it has changed over the years. The obvious purpose of lingerie has stayed the same, but we all know the so-called sexual revolution of the 1960s and 1970s changed lingerie from being a necessity to becoming an accessory. No longer are women required to wear bras underneath every top they own if they don't want to or if the shirt has a shelf bra. Stockings and pantyhose have been replaced with the au naturel look, and panties -- well, we all know how those have changed.
Men's underwear has gone from simple boxers and briefs to sexy G-strings and thongs. White t-shirts have also been replaced with colored or mesh tops.
Retro Lingerie Makes a Comeback
But even with these changes, many men and women may still feel comfortable wearing lingerie that looks antique, but has a some sex appeal added to it. That's why vintage lingerie -- commonly known today as retro lingerie -- is becoming more popular. Today, retro lingerie can be found at many upscale lingerie shops. However, while the styles of the undergarments our parents and grandparents wore are the same, the designs have been updated. Some of the same vintage men and women's lingerie items available today include:
Take your time and scan our vintage lingerie pictures -- it's interesting to see that these are all current designs of some old-fashioned styles.
