With some effort, you can get a great sports bra at a low price.

Obviously, lingerie shops and sportswear boutiques buy all their apparel wholesale and sell it to the public at a markup. That's how business works, unless you make your product yourself.

But manufacturers can make their products available at a wholesale price in other situations. Often, if you are buying in bulk even as an individual or a small group, they will be willing to cut you a deal. So cheerleading squads, sports teams or even a school, Girl Scout or camp group can often successfully buy wholesale sports bras.

Generally speaking, there are two methods for securing a wholesale price for your desired product. One is to work with a shop that sells sports bras and tell them the amount you require. If you are buying more than 20, they will usually be willing to give you a steep discount. Because of course they have to make a profit, they will still charge you more than what they paid the manufacturer, and you will be liable for tax as well, but it will still work out to a much cheaper deal than if each bra had been bought individually.

It need hardly be said that this is only effective with an independent shop – big box or other large stores do not have the capacity or willingness to deal with an individual in this way. But for those who don't have a quality independent shop in their area, this tactic is not confined to brick-and-mortar shops. Many online shops are owned and operated by individuals and they are often more than happy to work out a group deal. A number of online shops will already offer discounts for purchases of a certain price, so if you guarantee a large sale, they will more than likely cut you a deal. It only takes asking – in difficult economic times, a shop might be happier to move product than to make a larger profit. If there is something else you can offer in return, such as free advertising, the incentive to work with you is that much higher.

The other means of buying wholesale sports bras is to work directly with a manufacturer. If you are not in business yourself, this is not as easy as it once was because so few manufacturers are still located in the US. However, there are some Web sites geared towards assisting buyers so that they can make wholesale purchases from manufacturers in China, India and other places around the world.

One site that lets you do this is Global Sources. It isn't a user-friendly site and is more suited to businesses, as many of the bras available must be bought in quantities of 1000 or more. If, however, you are starting a business, it might work out well for you. You can also try Wholesale Mall, although they specify they are for wholesale buyers only and this might preclude groups.

Although it's hardly a guarantee, one of your better bets for finding a wholesale sports bra is eBay. Whether something is in overstock or discontinued, you can find items at well below the original sales price. A sports bra that might have cost $35 in a store can be found for $5. This method of shopping only works if you aren't in immediate need, because there are so many mitigating factors, like size and quality. However, if you want a wholesale price and like a challenge, this may be a great way to shop.
